A braid worn as "bangs" is one of my favorite hairstyles. It is a variation on a french braid but I think it's even easier than a regular french braid because you only add hair to one side of the braid. Here is a tutorial, I promise it's easy:
1. Take a triangle "bang" section. I like to use the highest point of the arch of my brows as two points of the triangle with the third point being at the center of the top of my head.
2. Take a thin section from the top of your bang section to your hairline. These are the kind of sections you will take from now on - sort of like pieces of a pie (really, really skinny pie pieces).
3. Start braiding with that first section.
4 & 5. Continue braiding, adding to your braid by taking more "pie" sections that go from the same point on the top of your bang section all the way to your hairline. This is how you end up only adding hair to one side of your french braid (there isn't hair to add on the other side)

6. Continue braiding after you've ran out of hair to add and then put a mini elastic on the end.
7. Take each side of your braid and pull on it making the braid less tight. Start at the beginning of your braid and work your way towards the end. (this isn't necessary but I love the way it makes a braid look)
8. Use a bobby pin to pin your braid in place about an inch above your ear. If you use the bobby pin the same way you use a hair pin then you may only need one bobby pin like I did.
9. Place some hair over the end of your braid to cover where you pinned it. You will use a hair pin to secure it.
10. As you push the pin in, weave the hairpin in and out between the two sections (the one you're hiding and the one you're hiding it with).
This is a great summer hairstyle, especially for really humid days. You know, the ones when you don't totally want to look like Mufasa from The Lion King (maybe that just happens to me). It's also great for when you're growing out bangs or if you don't have bangs but would like something around your face every now and then. Let me know if you try it!

EVERY time I see you wearing your hair like this I wish I knew how to do it. It's so pretty.
I'm going to try it for my interview tomorrow and they're probably going to hire me because of it.
braid bangs + job interview = job offer
I'm going to try this at home tonight and am definitely going to start following your blog. If you have read my most recent blog entry, you'll see I've been having hair issues. Thanks for the tutorial!

LOVED this tutorial. Did it without a mirror and it worked out perfectly!
I love your hair like this. And I love your blog like this. Even though I don't do hair I always feel inspired when I visit your blog because you guys are doing what you love and doing it so well.
My hair is only chin length but i have been rocking this look and smoothing my hair back ( to cover my ear ) on the other side then tucking in a small bun at the back.
I have got compliments EVERY day so far!
Going to try another of your styles for next week.
love
