Problem
1. Hard water (including pool water and ocean water)
2. Over washing your hair
3. Drugstore/Supermarket shampoo and conditioner
4. Hair dye (mostly bleach)
5. Heat styling (curling irons, flat irons, bad blow dryers)
Prevention
1. Water softener, apply oil into your hair (oil and water don't mix) before going in a pool or ocean and wear a swim cap if you swim regularly.
2. Learn how to wash your hair.
3. Get better shampoo (cheap shampoo = cheap ingredients duh)
4. Deep condition your hair OFTEN
5. Always use hair spray or heat protectant when using a hot tool. This is what you should look for in a good blow dryer.

What kind of deep conditioner do you recommend?
I love Kerastase Masque Force Architecte.
i've been stumped ever since i read this yesterday. i'm such a rule breaker! i shampoo everyday! with suave! i blow dry for-ev-er every morning! i color! i have the world's hardest water! and to make matters worse, i'd rather go to the dentist than sit in the haircut chair.
but strangers say i have the thickest, yummiest hair... they do!
i feel like i should be a test subject or something... hair experiments! next time you're in slc, i'll let you see it + believe it. i'm a wonder!
Can you review your deep conditioning technique?
Can you recommend a good heat protectant spray? Do you apply it before blow drying and again before flat ironing/curling, or is the one time sufficient?
