My beauty school used to hire photographers to come in and shoot the students' work. We would set up a mood board and do a model's hair and makeup and set up our own "editorial" shoot.
I remember ripping up pages of magazines that inspired me for this project and coming up with ideas of what I wanted to do. This photo of Iekeliene Stange flipping her hair around for the Marc by Marc Jacobs S/S '07 campaign were all I showed the photographer though. I remember how hard it was to explain exactly what I loved about it, it's still kind of difficult to explain. I think it's more than just the lighting, styling and hair or the fact that the photo is flipped on its side.
Needless to say, my shoot didn't end up looking like this, but it definitely got the wheels churning for me to pursue a career in editorial work. I love it so much.
