If you are anything like me, you are always looking for the next best diet or techniques to help get rid of those few extra pounds. There are so many benefits to getting yourself into shape; the sheer boost of morale is always a bonus. Losing weight can change you mentally; the confidence it can bring can really give you a positive outlook and change your life. It isn’t only mental benefits losing weight gives you; the physical values are a game changer. A fitter body can lead to a longer life expectancy, better sleep and that all important beach bod. Below I have included a few tips and points on how to get yourself to the new and improved you.

Diet

For me this is one of the hardest things to crack. Whether it’s not having biscuits with your cuppa or crying into your glass when your friends are devouring pizza. It is not easy but it’s a sacrifice you have to make to get to where you want to be. Rather than going without any of your guilty food pleasures, find alternatives! The amount of recipes you can find for homemade healthy pizza amazed me and it doesn’t stop there you can find a recipe for pretty much anything. Eating well doesn’t mean only eating salad and rabbit food. Don’t punish your taste buds; a healthier diet is a better way of living, not a punishment! Never forget to treat yourself; a treat meal once in a blue moon is more than ok. Have a cheat meal rather than a cheat day. Having a cheat day can knock you out of focus and wastes your hard work.

The next biggie when it comes to improving your body, exercise… your best friend or worst enemy. Whether it is trying to fit it into you busy schedule or like me you don’t particularly like going to the gym, exercise is vital. I feel like exercise has a lot of negative connotations, ‘it is boring’ and ‘I can’t find the time’. That doesn’t have to be the case, if the gym isn’t for you look at alternatives. Did you play a sport in school that you enjoyed? Pick it back up! Do you enjoy the countryside? Go for weekly hikes or walks! The best thing about exercise is fitting it to your personality and schedule; it can be a 4 hour hike or a twenty minute blitz in your living room.

Dedication

You can have the best dietician and personal trainer in the world but that is not the final recipe for success. You will not get anywhere if you don’t have dedication and self-belief; this is the glue that holds everything together. It’s all a state of mind; believe in yourself, belief in your body. You can do this!
